Download the Adobe Acrobat Extension
For Google Chrome, download the Adobe Acrobat extension from the Chrome Web Store. On Microsoft Edge, access the Adobe Acrobat Add-On from the Edge Add-ons store.
Extensions are enabled by default. To re-enable Adobe Acrobat, click the slide button in the Extensions Menu. For both Chrome and Edge, navigate to the Menu at the top-right of the browser window, then select Extensions.
How to Add Comments in the PDF Using Adobe Acrobat
To add comments, click the T icon at the top of the menu to insert plain text, or click the speech bubble to create a sticky note. You can then click anywhere in the document to type a comment. When done, click the T again. To move your comment, drag it across the page.
If you need to modify your comment, use the sidebar. Open the comment’s ellipsis (…) menu and select Edit, or double-click the comment. After saving your additions, anyone you share the PDF with can respond by clicking the comment.
To save the PDF, click the Download icon, or open the menu and save it to your Adobe Document Cloud.
How to Edit PDFs in Your Browser Using Adobe Acrobat
Basic editing options like highlighting and drawing are free for all. Advanced features like signing PDF forms require a subscription to Adobe Acrobat Pro.
To re-format PDF text, select it. An editing toolbar will appear. To draw on the page, click the pencil icon. To add highlights, click the highlighter icon.
How to Convert PDFs
Sign in to your Adobe Account to use this feature. Click the menu at the top-right and select Login. After signing in, choose the desired conversion type in the Tools menu, then select your export format and file name.
View the converted version immediately or open it in a Microsoft Office browser app for further editing.
How to Set a Password
To password-protect your PDF, sign in first. Select Protect PDF from the Tools menu. The protected file is saved to your Document Cloud, and you can also download a copy to your computer.
Recipients will not be able to view the PDF until they enter the password, even if they use a different PDF editor.
Limitations of Adobe Acrobat
If you don’t have an Adobe subscription, you can only use the tools mentioned above. For additional features, a subscription is required.
If you’re a Pro user, your premium tools, such as Fill & Sign, will be in the Tools sidebar. Selecting one of these options saves the open PDF to your Document Cloud and opens Adobe Acrobat Pro’s browser version to edit the stored copy.
